As the number of COVID 19 cases are rising again, the Paradise City Casino Resort in South Korea has decided to close down the facility for an undetermined period of time. Located near the Incheon International Airport in South Korea, the foreigner-only casino has issued an online statement (published on the website) closing down to reduce and prevent the spread of the coronavirus. The news would come as a shock to many tourists as previously; the casino had stated that the resort would only stay closed till 6 am on September 07. But the decision was taken after news came that two chefs of Chinese descent working at the restaurant, Imperial Treasure, were affected by the virus.
The workers had followed all protocol, including wearing masks and never came into contact with any of the guests. But, as a precautionary measure, the Paradise Resort authorities have decided to close down both the hotel and the casino for an indefinite period. The resort administrators told the press that such a drastic step was necessary to keep the guests and the employees safe. It will also help them to comply with the Level 2.5 social distancing protocol announced by the South Korean authorities for the metropolitan area. The rules have been put in place to limit restaurants, food outlets, indoor sports facilities, and educational facilities.
The Paradise City was launched in 2017 as a foreigner-only casino, and since then, it has also added many non-gaming facilities. Its closure will disappoint many people, but there was hardly any option as close to 200 new cases of COVID – 19 infections were recorded in 24 hours preceding the announcement.
